How you had it set up back in '05 or '06 was perfect. I don't think the update material needs to be HTML driven. (If Pujols wants to spend three hours updating each game, all the power to him) ... But I think that a set-up like this with maybe a link to that user's page for the respective sport along with a linescore and a basic boxscore layout for those of us that fear HTML would be all that would be needed. This is a nice feature, but you don't want to take away from why we're all here.

Doc - I'm open to ideas. Like I said, this set up is just a few bits of code from being community driven (no need for me). But, what ways could it be used (or modified)?

I like the idea as long as the sanctity of the 15 ODE games played eery year won't be lost. At the same time I'll ask: Will all sports be offered to do this with or just whatever is in season/popular? I'd love to be able to do this when I get to the postseason on my Penguins page.

What's everyone's thoughts in making ODE self-sufficient; meaning, it can be set up by users to host live game events outside of Opening Day MLB?

And you notice 2 of our 3 wins this ODE were from guys who weren't doing their games live (Rob sort of was but in a different way).

Yeah I'd agree w/ that Allan... especially looking at my two games (probably a perfect example). On the D'Backs game the way I updated was very basic and I played a very good game... Cards game was another story, part of the reason might be because I was updating a ton and not focusing on the game as much as I should have. But we can blame SheffG too. ;)

It's not scientific or anything, but I'd be willing to bet the win % has something to do with updating your game at the same time you play it...I know yesterday I often focused so much on the updating portion I forgot about just playing my actual game the way it needed to be played

Hey Rob I noticed the medium headline setup on your NHL page...any idea on a timeframe for when that will be available for all users? It looks really good and I think there are several different ways you could use it.

I moved my start time up by 15 minutes... so I should take us up until about 11:30 or so and then Doc will start at midnight.

I don't know past years records, but I do know I am personally 2-0 in these games... I hit a walk-off HR with Troy Glaus in 2008 and tossed a 3-hitter with Lincecum last year. I think we were slightly positive (maybe 8-7) in 2008, can't remember if we were above .500 last year.

Any reason Andruwfan's headline is showing up on all the pages?

All I remember about last year was slick getting pummeled. I don't think he scored a run.

Again, big kudos to bhurst for the Opening Day Tribute vids. Just as much a part of ODE as the Pirates losing (they're 0-2 in ODE history) ... Does anyone have tabs on the '08 and 09 ODE results?
