Columbus, OH- The New York Dragons built a 20-point lead only to see it evaporate before pulling out a late victory against the Columbus Destroyers, evening their 2007 Arena Football League record at 2-2. Quarterback Aaron Garcia earned his first victory after watching backup Rohan Davey led the Dragons to a win two weeks ago.
Davey had replaced Garcia after the starter was injured in the first quarter of the win against Nasville before last week's bye. But this win was all Garcia's. He threw for six touchdown passes without an interception and led his offense on a late-game scoring drive for the lead, and thanks to an especially stingy defense, the win.
Chris Anthony, who led the offense in receptions with 12 for 86 yards and four touchdowns, also led the defense with eight tackles.
For Columbus, quarterback Matt Nagy threw five touchdown passes but also two interceptions. Troy Locke had nine recpetions and three TD catches while BJ Barre finished with five catches and two scores.
The Destroyer defense was led by Brandon Hefflin with six tackles.
New York improves to 2-2 with the win while New Orleans falls to 1-3.
Next Up: The Dragons return home to host the New Orleans VooDoo on Saturday March 3rd.
