Austin, TX- Looking lethargic and ill-prepared the New York Dragons were thoroughly dominated by the Austin Wranglers losing 55-23 in the Texas captial. New York was held scoreless in the first quarter and only managed three points before the half.
The Wranglers built a three touchdown lead before the Dragon offense started to click in the second half and by then it was much too late. Austin matched each New York score with one of their own before smothering any thoughts of a fourth-quarter comeback.
New York led in time of possesion and most other offensive categories save for the most important one. Dragon quarterback Aaron Garcia went 21-for-42 with 236 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Garcia also added 10 yards on the ground in a non-existant Dragons running game. Will Holder benefitted from the absense of Chris Anthony catching 13 passes and both touchdowns.
Wrangler quarterback Adrian McPherson thre for just 136 yards over 12-of-20 passing but added two touchdowns and no picks. Fred Coleman led Austin recievers with six catches while Sedrick Robinson and Kevin Nickerson each had a touchdown. But it was the contributions of Chad Dukes that made all the difference. The FB/LB had 12 rushes for 39 yards and four touchdowns.
Robinson also led Austin's defense with 10 tackles and two picks. Kevin Emanuel had thee sacks while Aaron Humphrey got to the quarterback once.
Dahnel Singfield led Dragon tacklers with 10, Will Holder had seven and Delbert Cowsette and Joe Laudano each had a sack.
New York falls to 3-3 with the loss while Austin improves to 5-1.
Next Up: The Dragons return home to host the Philadelphia Soul on Friday March 16th.
