FLUSHING, NY - 11-1 that is the record the Braves sport against their division rival New York Mets, after sweeping them away for the third time this year. "I'm not sure what happens when we play against this team, it's not like Chipper [Jones] is killing us like in the past." Mets third baseman David Wright said.

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The young starting pitchers for the Atlanta Braves could not keep up with the high octane offense of the Phillies. 24-year-old Mike Minor and rookie Bobby Cramer had difficulty producing for the Braves on the road. Cramer was making his first start of the year filling in for the injured Brandon Beachy. Minor on the other hand hasn't won a game since July 14th against the Mets.

ATLANTA, GA - The Braves were able to fend off the lowly Astros in a quick three game sweep of them at Turner Field. Houston is dead last in the NL Central and they took two major hits to their pitching rotation. They placed #1 overall pick in this year's draft Jacobo Bierbrodt and Bud Norris on the disabled list.

ATLANTA, GA - Atlanta has now lost two of their last four series, both against division rivals. LF Logan Morrison went 3 for 3, a home run shy of the cycle with a walk and 2 RBIs. This is the Marlins first series win against Atlanta and now the Mets are the only NL East team yet to win a series against the Braves.

ATLANTA, GA - Atlanta took the rubber match of this three game series but it didn't come without causalities. Braves SP Jair Jurriens exited the third game in the 3rd inning after feeling discomfort in his throwing shoulder. RP Buddy Carlyle was able to keep the Phillies bats at bay while earning his 6th win of the year.

- This past series relief pitcher Cory Gearrin tossed 4.2 innings allowing 4 hits and 7 strikeouts, including his 5th win of the year in game 2 against the Mets.

25-year-old Gearrin was recalled back in May after Kris Medlen was added to the starting rotation due to injuries. Gearrin has thrived under his latest call-up with an ERA of 1.12, second on the team behind closer Craig Kimbrel. "It's going to be a tough decision on who to send down when everyone gets healthy." manager Fredi Gonzalez stated.

- After the recent string of injuries to Atlanta's staff, GM Frank Wren decided to add some more depth in the minors. He scoured the free agent pool and decided to take a chance on 32-year-old journeyman Bobby Cramer.

Cramer last played for the Oakland Athletics in 2011. For his career he is 2-2 with a 2.53 ERA in just 9 games in two years. "He will be given a chance to earn a shot in the majors with our club." Wren stated. For now Cramer will join Gwinnett's starting rotation.

- 25-year-old SP Tommy Hanson has been cruising through batters this first half of the year. He leads the majors in most pitching categories, including the only pitcher to win 14 games.

As it stand right now he is the top candidate to take home the NL Cy Young award. "It would be a great honor but I know there is a lot of baseball to come." Hanson stated. If the first half was any indication, you can count on him being in talks of the Cy Young at the end of the year.
